Chester Allen is an award winning jewelry and metal artist.
He lives in New Orleans, the birthplace of jazz, so this piece is very much influenced by him listening to the likes of Trombone Shorty and Delfeayo Marsalis.
Chester calls himself, "A Philosopher with a ball-peen hammer.
This Piece is part of the art series called "Home and Flow." What are you anchored to, and how do you process the world.
The DNA or Double Helix in the tabletop sculpture represents, who you are. Many artist in New Orleans but around the world have family ties to attribute to the love and skills of the music.
Like the trumpet, saxophone, and Tuba, the trombone is both a wind and brass instrument. In New Orleans many players play in what are called, "Brass Bands>" This would be an excellent gift for home or office of any wind instrument or brass instrument player.
One interesting thing about trombones is how they extend and contract. The slide on a trombone enables the player to change his or her pitch in a truly smooth and "stepless" fashion.
Chester's take:The instrument has a potential for sound, but it's your informed voice that animates and expresses your truth!
